FULL BIO

J.R. Paredes is an award-winning music producer, audio engineer, film composer, and post-production sound specialist whose work spans music, film, and television. With hundreds of credits across multiple genres, his work has reached international Top 40 charts and has been featured in projects distributed on platforms such as Apple TV+ and Prime Video. He is a member of the Recording Academy and a voting member for the GRAMMY Awards.

J.R.’s musical journey began at age six with piano, later expanding to guitar, tuba, and composition. By age twelve, he was already writing music and experimenting with recording using a Tascam 4-track recorder—an early foundation for what would become a career at the intersection of creativity and technology. He holds a Master of Music in Composition from Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music and a Bachelor of Music in Composition from Trinity University in San Antonio, where he developed a strong foundation in both classical composition and electronic music production. As a composer, he works fluidly across styles, incorporating both modern digital instruments and traditional orchestral approaches in his scores.

As a composer, J.R. has received national and regional recognition, including awards from ASCAP and the Associated Colleges of the South. As a performer, he has appeared in a wide range of ensembles—from orchestras and jazz bands to rock groups—and has performed at venues including Carnegie Hall, as well as on national and international tours. These diverse experiences inform his versatility across genres, from cinematic orchestral scoring to contemporary commercial production.

In 2006, J.R. took ownership of a small recording studio in Houston, transforming it into Satellite Music Group, a premier recording facility serving artists and filmmakers throughout the region and beyond. Over more than a decade, he built a reputation for high-level production, technical excellence, and collaborative artistry, working with a wide range of clients across the music and film industries.

He has further refined his craft through elite professional development experiences, including Mix With The Masters with Michael Brauer and David Kahne in France, and a mixing workshop with Chris Lord-Alge at Sweetwater Studios.

In addition to his production career, J.R. spent over two decades as co-owner and Vice President of All About Music, Inc., one of Texas’ largest music and arts schools, where he taught composition, theory, and multiple instruments while directing a contemporary band program.

Since relocating to Orlando in 2019, J.R. has expanded his work in film and television, specializing in scoring, sound design, and post-production audio. His recent projects include original scores and sound work for feature films and series distributed on Apple TV+ and Prime Video, as well as a wide range of work in dialogue editing, Foley, ADR, and re-recording mixing.
